Big excitement to start the CC season!

Strap on your Expert Belt, get your favorite deck tuned up and get your first taste of City Championship action and glory right after Thanksgiving — at the best venue in L.A. County to play Pokemon!

Door prizes!

In addition to our famous ‘grab piles’ of modified format cards (random holos, rares, uncommons and commons) we will have door prizes for our random goodness or decklist drawings!

Decklist raffle!

If you use pokegym.net/decklist correctly I will pull your decklist out into a pile for each age group and hold a raffle for PokeGym dice from the those piles!

Bring a new player prizes!

Veterans, you know the drill!

  • Bring a first timer to this Second City Gym event, show us the person when you register and get a pack!
  • League Leaders, get your first-timers ready and bring them, and we’ll give you a pack too.

Check back soon for info on prizes from Organized Play!

Player Information

New tournament players – drop by a league (see list at right) and tell the league leader you want to go to our City Championship. They’ll help you get ready to have big fun.

Parents:  We’ll break for lunch around 12:45 if all goes well. That should be 3 rounds and it could be your child will be done by then… but hopefully we have more than 15 in the younger groups and they have to come back for a 4th round at 1:30. We’ll give you a better time estimate once we have everyone entered and confirmed.

Lunch break: We hope to have pizza and sodas for sale on site, if that suits you! Break will be 45 minutes, so check our map for the local fast foods or bring a lunch (or plan to eat pizza). Pizza order will be taken between Round 1 & 2 — get those fingers warmed up to show how many slices you want!

Mandatory Items for Participants!

These 3 things are all pretty easy! We want you to have fun and no confusion or slow-downs. We also want to get you ready for other Cities & State Championhips. Competition is fun, so be prepared so you can compete!

  1. 60 Card ‘Modified Forat’ Deck
    • Unmarked bare cards or sleeves.
    • We are not paranoid sleeve/card checkers, but if we can identify a pattern, you’ll be asked to resleeve/desleeve.
    • Modified Format includes only those sets from Diamond & Pearl and later.
    • See the PokeGym Researching Tower for a handy list of ‘modified format’ expansion sets.
  2. Decklist – fill it out online and print it, bring it with you: http://pokegym.net/decklist
    • It’s OK to change the list a bit on site, but an illegible hand-entered decklist will need to be re-done before you are entered in the event.
    • We’ll have blank lists on site, but if you don’t have time to fill it out and get it checked before registration cutoff, you may receive a round 1 loss.
  3. Markers for Damage & Conditions
    • You can use pennies/coins, theme deck cardboard markers or dice, but you will not be allowed to play without them.
    • If your deck inflicts special conditions, you MUST provide markers for them and enforce card turning to show status, as appropriate.
