Modified Format
Current 2012-2013 modified format consists of all cards printed in Black and White and later expansions.
All premier events where players construct their own 60 card deck use the Modified Format. In addition, for tournament play decks may optionally be sleeved in plain, non-patterned, non-reflective covers. Art on the cover is allowed only if it is official Pokémon art that has a solid border on all sides. Dirt or marks on cards or covers is considered a marked card situation and must be resolved prior to play by de-sleeving or re-sleeving.
Modified Format Resources
The official format description is found in the Pokémon Organized Play Seasonal Format Rotation document. However, the PokeGym provides two very practical modified format resources:
- PokeGym Researching Tower – A visual guide to cards in the modified format (and all cards printed in English).
- Modified Legal Card List – A definitive list of cards from all sets that are legal to play in the modified format.
Modified Format Deck Lists
All modified format decks used at must be accompanied by a deck list. Sometime Pokemon Organized Play makes a decklist available on their site, pokemon.com. You can always create a customized & complete decklist or print a blank one using The PokeGym’s Decklist Creator web page, created by member SteveP. Pre-printed decklists may be modified prior to submission, in pen on site, if needed, at Second City Gym events.
