TCG Competition Prizes

Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions. Standard Prizing is BREAKthrough expansion. Additional prizing is Roaring Skies expansion for MA T8 if total even attendance is over 100 players.

Participants will receive 2 Play! Points just for playing! Players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account with a Player ID attached, and must have opted in to the Play! Pokémon program in order to earn points.

This Blaziken Series Video Game Premiere Challenge is being organized by AV City Gym and held in parallel with Second City Gym’s City Championship.

You can only register online. If you haven’t done it before you get to the event, plan to borrow a friend’s phone to complete registration. You also need a completed and accurate team list before the end of check in.

Team List

When you turn in your Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire team list you are saying, “Yes, this is the team that I will be using today. I will not change this team, and all members are legal for use in today’s competition.” If you prefer to write out your team list on site, please arrive at the start of check-in and plan to spend the time needed to fill it out legibly and accurately. Team lists may not be available in the venue until the start of check-in, so you may want to download and print in advance.

Update Your Game

Nintendo has issued two updates this year (4/1 & 4/22) for the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire games. Please see the official How To Update page and update your game before you come to the venue. WiFi will not be available in Chatsworth and may be available for a charge in San Gabriel.

“Let me sum up” – to have fun playing Pokémon TCG all day:

  1. All players must register online on their own computer or device.
  2. Registered players must check in with staff using their PlayerID at the venue.
  3. Masters must pay in bulk or cash on site, before check-in.
  4. Deck lists collected from all players at 9AM player meeting.

  • MA Division – If we have a Round 9, play for a pack!

How To Participate

  1. Find your Player ID or get one online.
  2. Register online – now or on a friend’s phone at the event. Only then can you check-in.
  3. Create a 60 card standard format deck – with no marks on cards or sleeves (if used).
  4. Legibly fill out a deck list – make sure it is accurate and complete.
  5. Give your Player ID to the check-in team between 8:00am & 8:45am 3/21/15.
  6. Masters purchase your wristband with bulk Pokémon Cards or $15 cash.
  7. Bring your deck list (and for Masters, wear your wristband) and sit at your posted roster number in the player meeting.

For California State Championship, Masters don’t have to pay $15 in cash. We have bulk Pokémon Card payment options! Here are your choices:

  • 300 commons/uncommons (no trainers) -or-
  • 250 reverse commons/uncommons (no trainers) -or-
  • 150 rares/foil rares -or-
  • 100 Holo rares

Trading Card Championship Prizes

Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions.

All participants will receive 3 Play! Points and a Pokémon SPC promo card (while supplies last) just for playing! Top finishers will receive Championship Points as detailed on the 2015 Championship Points chart.

The winner of each division will receive a first-round bye at the US or Canadian National Championships.

The top 4 finishers in each division will receive a Pokémon TCG State/Province Championships trophy, Pokémon character cap and deck box.

The top 8 finishers in the Junior and Senior Divisions will receive booster packs from the most current Pokémon TCG expansion as follows:

1st & 2nd: 36 boosters
3rd & 4th: 18 boosters
5th–8th: 9 boosters

The top16 finishers in the Masters Division will receive booster packs from the most current Pokémon TCG expansion as follows:

1st & 2nd: 108 boosters
3rd & 4th: 36 boosters
5th–8th: 18 boosters
9th–16th: 9 boosters

The top 8 (or 16) finishers in the Masters Division will receive gift cards from the organizer in the following amounts:

This is a “standard format” event. Single game swiss rounds with up to top 8 best “2 of 3” 50 minute single elimination round, depending on attendance in your division. Registration is online only. You can borrow a smartphone from a friend to register at the venue, but do it in advance.

Your legal sleeves (solid color or Pokemon issued), if used, must be unmarked, of course.

Advice: Don’t play with old sleeves; wear becomes marks. Attend to your hygiene; you will be sitting next to other people in person. Do not plan to bring more trades than you can keep under your chair; keep track of your stuff. Also, fill out your deck list in advance; neatly made changes are permitted on site. Vending must be OK’d with organizer by Dec. 6 in writing.

Masters we add a box to prizing and you “Play for a Pack”:

  1. Play out the last round (no pack to intentional draws nor concessions before time)
  2. Winner takes the Phantom Forces pack.
  3. No winner? Player that took the most prizes wins the pack.
  4. Tied on prizes? Player that won the flip takes the pack.

Masters Admission Payment

Required to be complete before end of check-in. One of the following:

  • $10 cash ($1 convenience fee for credit)
  • 200 clean, unmarked un/common Pokemon cards any set (no trainers or energy).

“EON Ticket” Street Pass

The organizer’s 3DS will be handing out an EON Ticket code to your Omega Ruby and/or Alpha Sapphire game via the “BuzzNav” Street Pass feature. Bring your game and grab the ticket.
